At nine inches deep and table height, the Tranquility Bass can be placed against any wall in home theater applications. It is simply awsome when used multiple configurations.

The driver of the TRANQUILITY BASS is a very high excursion 12 inch woofer covering the frequency range from 200 Hz and below. The 12 inch woofer is a customized unit designed by recognized designer Michael Kelly of Aerial Acoustics and licensed for our use. The driver has an aluminum cone with a large rubber surround allowing for a maximum peak to peak excursion capability of 2.25 inches with almost 2 inches of that being linear. It has a 3 inch diameter 4 layer voice coil and a 12.5 inch diameter die cast frame. The overall weight of the driver is 35 pounds. This driver with its substantial excursion capability allows the TRANQUILITY BASS to produce low frequency SPLs (anechoic with no room gain) of 110 dB at 20 Hz and 114 dB for 30 Hz and above.

The cabinet of the TRANQUILITY BASS is constructed of 1.5 inch medium density fiberboard (mdf) for the front baffle and 1.0 inch mdf everywhere else with substantial bracing throughout. The profile of the cabinet as viewed from the top is in the shape of a wide rectangle with an overall depth of just 9 inches and an overall width of 36 inches. The porting of the vented box is accomplished with a totally straight rectangular port that is flared at both ends. The port exits out of the lower right hand side of the cabinet and is equivalent in size to a 4.7 inch diameter circular port. A port with an equivalent diameter this large is required to guarantee that there is no chuffing or wind noise with the substantial amounts of air movement the 12 inch woofer with its 2.25 inch maximum excursion is capable of producing. The port tunes the box to a resonant frequency of 22 Hz giving the TRANQUILITY BASS a –3 dB frequency of 20 Hz, with no room gain included.

The front panels are three-quarter inch machined aluminum. Special finish options are available for both the cabinet and the metal. For ease of uncrating and placement, the Tranquility Bass is shipped with casters attached to the 1.5 inch machined base assembly. These are removeable for replacement with leveling spikes if desired.
